Access Theatre Company employs a range of professional dance and drama professionals such as Attik Dance, Oddbodies, and Rogue Theatre to make exciting and challenging theatre productions of the highest standard. We meet every Monday afternoon at Launceston Town Hall from 1.00 to 4.00pm. Some of us arrive at 12.30 for a packed lunch and a chat before the session starts. If anyone is thinking of joining, they are welcome to join us for a free taster session.
Members pay an annual membership fee of £75 (payable in three instalments) and then £5 per week for the drama session. We would love not to have to make these charges but we have regular costs such as insurance, hall hire and some volunteers & administration costs which have to be met. All expenditure is kept to an absolute minimum and much of the work is done by our volunteer management committee (link) who are consistently fundraising and making funding applications. In 2016 we are hoping to achieve full charitable status and become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered with the Charity Commission. We are extremely for support from Arts Council England, FEAST, The Clare Milne Charity, BBC Performing Arts Fund,Volunteer Cornwall, Cornwall Rural Community Council, Cornwall Community Foundation, Coodes Solicitors and Comic Relief.
The company welcomes anyone who feels they need a little extra support and includes adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and mental health issues.
The company members are diverse in their abilities and level of support required. Some members live at home with their families, some in supported accommodation and some in residential care homes. The age range is between 20 and 60. Carers and support workers are a vital part of our team and are invited to participate fully in each session. Volunteers are welcome too. Our Code of Conduct has been developed to help guide carers and volunteer who want to work with us.
